Bloody Mary

Day 358

Bloody Mary
4 shots out of 5

Isn't there a story from our childhood about Bloody Mary?  Speaking of children, the fever has left our house!  We seem to be doing tons better.....except for that nagging cough that I am sure will stick around this house for a few weeks.  Fingers crossed that oldest brother and my husband and I don't get it!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.  I am SUPER DUPER surprised that I like this cocktail as much as I do,.... seriously.  Let me start off by saying.....holy crap there's a lot of different versions of Bloody Mary's out there.  My husband likes Bloody Mary's and I have honestly never ever tried one before simply because I was scared of the tomato juice.  I have to say, this cocktail tastes like spicy tomato soup and I really like it!  My only complaint (which I can see my friend Jenn rolling her eyes at because she likes them spicy) is that it might be a little bit too spicy for my taste.  The Spicy V8 on it's own has enough spice for me, it's actually pretty darn good on it's own.  As some of you know, I love green olives, what you don't know is that I love pepperocini's as well so I decided to include them both, GREAT idea!  I dipped my olive in the cocktail and ate it, WOW--a spicy green olive......I think I'm in love.

Here is my recipe for a Bloody Mary:

  • 4 oz Spicy V8
  • 1 1/2 oz vodka
  • 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • celery stalk
  • green olives
  • pepperocini
In a tall cocktail glass filled 3/4 with ice, pour in your first 4 ingredients.  Some bartenders "roll" these ingredients, I decided to just stir them up well.  Place your celery stick in and put your olives and pepperocini on a toothpick and either drop it in, or dip and eat them.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here's to overcoming my fear of Bloody Mary's and actually making one of my own....and liking it!!

Cheers!!
