Day 247

Gin Alexander
3.5 shots out of 5

We made it!  Another Friday is here.  Another weekend of sports is upon us.  This weekend is a baseball tournament for our oldest.  Along with soccer of course.  I keep fantasizing about the weekend after Thanksgiving.  That will start a good slew of weekends where we do.....not......have......fifty millions games!

I gave tonight's this afternoon's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.  First off I'd like to say that I am aware that ground nutmeg goes on top of a Gin Alexander.  Unfortunately I don't have any, so since it is fall and I have been on a pumpkin kick lately, I substituted the nutmeg for pumpkin pie spice........not bad, I must say.  I do like the way the cream compliments the gin in this cocktail.  The dark creme de cacao adds a nice subtle flavor as well.  The three ingredients do go well together.......it's just not as flavorful as some of my other cocktails and that's why it got a 3.5.

Here is the recipe for a Gin Alexander:

  • 1 oz gin
  • 1 oz dark creme de cacao
  • 1 oz cream
  • nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice
In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above except for the nutmeg (or pumpkin pie spice, whichever you choose to use).  Shake until well mixed and strain into your martini glass.

Here's to starting the weekend off a little early!

Cheers!!
